Electrolysis Tissue Injury: From Normal to Extreme Reactions

Performing electrolysis is much more than just permanently removing hairs. A successful electrologist must navigate the fine line between efficient treatments and the possible side effects of the current on the skin. While electrology treatments are not without normal skin reactions, extreme skin reactions should be avoided. In this lecture we will look at possible normal side effects, what happens to the healing skin and what type of reactions should be avoided.

Learning Outcomes:

  • The electrologist will receive a thorough review of the skin anatomy.

  • The electrologist will have a better understanding of the healing skin and its mechanism, time frames.

  • The electrologist will have an overview of normal skin reactions and normal side effects.

  • The electrologist will see what constitutes extreme skin reactions.

  • The electrologist will learn some tricks to minimize side effects while maximizing efficiency.

Meet our instructors

Joanie Gonella

Instructor

Joanie Gonella has a bachelors degree in the field of Neuroscience from the University of California, Irvine and a post-graduate certificate in Pre-Health sciences from Florida Atlantic University. Ms. Gonella obtained her license as a professional Electrologist in California in 2003. She now has 20 years of experience as an electrologist, owns and operates a successful salon in Orange County, California, and is an instructor, administrator and co-owner of California Electrology Academy, one of three electrology schools in California. Recognizing the importance of education, development and modernization, Joanie Gonella regularly gives lectures and seminars both nationally and internationally.
